SantaCon Chicago 2009

Suggestions???? Looking for Your Input

Here are some questions to start....

1) Last Stop - Is Division Street a good place to end SantaCon?

2) Landmarks/Events - Is there any significant landmarks or events that we should have the route go to?

3) Route suggestions - Does anyone have new ideas?

4) Open forum - Let me know what you think.  This will only make it better.

Please let me know.

Thanks for your time,

ST

Had a great time last year.

Some of us couldn't find that gyro place, and it seemed like the walk took forever.  If we could find another bar before we go over the river that would be great.  It also seemed like the groups were leaving from that bar at different times to get to the Water Tower.

Like I said before, great time and looking forward to this year's.

I did like what we saw at the Lasalle Power Company but that does strike me as an end of night place, will that work or should we still hit up Streeters and Division Street?

We are trying to make Lasalle Power Company be the last stop.  We're working through the route to make sure that we keep the group active getting there.

Any way you can start the days festivities (which I've experienced as a surprised guest of a local establishment) somewhere other than the Congress Hotel. I know a number of folks who have worked there in the past who have shared disturbing details about offensive and in some cases threatening behavior by management to their front line workers.

Everyone entering will also have to cross a picket line that has been out there for most of the last 6 years. I'm not a hotel worker, nor a union employee, just someone who has a roommate who works as a housekeeper at the W which has allowed me the opportunity to learn about how the Congress Hotel treats their employees.

Thanks for listening / considering.

SantaTomJr,  it is too late for us to change the location.  As you may have noticed this was posted in October and the planning meetings have happened.  We have tried to look for another place, without any luck in this area.  We would have to go further south and it doesn't fit the logistics.  I did take into consideration the people who would not like to enter the Congress and have listed an alternate at the Artist's Cafe (412 S. Michigan Ave).  Last year people went there.

I would like to say we don't support the treatment they give to the hotel workers at all.  If anything, this could be a chance for the strikers to get noticed again.   Use this event to have people out there.

I hope you still are planning to attend the event this year.  I am looking for volunteers to help, in a situation like this where we have to split up the group, to communicate with this volunteer to let them know to get their group ready to move.  Would you like to help?
